Good evening fellow bookworms. <3
The other day, I was browsing through a Chinese convenience store. It’s a quaint little place, tucked neatly away between several others. The moment I walked in, I felt a whoosh of pure energy envelop me, as though hundreds of years of positive energy had suddenly infused with my soul.
So why, you may ask, am I taking the time to describe this magical place?
Well, as I scanned shelves piled high with ramen, tempura, dumplings, and tea, I happened across something I’d been meaning to try- Jasmine Tea.
With that in mind, I decided it might be fun to make a short blog post about my miraculous find.
So, how does one brew the perfect cup of Chinese Jasmine Tea?
Step 1: Though this may seem like a fairly obvious step, your first action should be to unbox the tea, revealing the singular sachets of Jasmine tea hiding within.
Having exposed those cheeky Jasmine tea bags, take a moment to bring the soft packet up to your nose, and inhale the sweet, calming fragrance that is Jasmine.
Allow it to caress your senses and help you unwind, shedding that unnecessary cloak of stress that you’ve carried all day.
Step 2: Tear open that tea bag!
Relish in the sudden tearing sound of paper as your Jasmine tea bag is released from its confines. Be sure to grab one of your favourite mugs (I like this one because it has the first initial of my name on it) and allow the tea bag to sit comfortably inside.
Step 3: Boil that kettle and prepare to pour some HOT water over that Jasmine scented goodness.
Now, you’re ready to start brewing your very own cup of Chinese Jasmine Tea. Once the water has been poured and begins to settle, leave your cup to sit for about 2-5 minutes.
Optional: press down gently on the tea bag with the tip of a teaspoon, to slowly release more of the Jasmine’s flavour.
Step 4: Wait for your Jasmine Tea to brew.
A Little Tip: Try not to get bored and lean over your mug. It may become quite tempting if you’re anywhere near as weird as I am, but in the long run, a watched mug never…brews? <3
Step 5: Once your tea has finished brewing, it’s time for that all important taste test.
So, what was the verdict? Was this all-consuming process of tea brewing worth it?
YES! It most definitely was! The rich Jasmine flavour caressed my tongue, its intoxicating scent already having spread through my airways. I would recommend Chinese Jasmine Tea to anyone looking for a way to de-stress after a hectic day of school or work.
