Confessions Book Tag
Hey fellow Bookworms. ^_^
How are you all doing today?
I’ve been seeing this tag around for some time and have been meaning to get to it, but I’ve just been so busy. Luckily, I’ve now found the time to do it.
So here it goes ~ The Book Confessions Tag
1.) Have you ever damaged a book?
Not on purpose, no. Unfortunately, I once spilled hot chocolate on a paperback, which belonged to my step-dad. I’ve felt incredibly guilty and ashamed ever since.
2.) How long does it take you to read a book?
That depends on the book in question. On average, I finish about 3 books per week.
If it’s a relatively short book, it will probably take me less than a day to read. However, if a book is at least 250 pages long, you can best it will take me a few days to finish as I read whenever I’m not working.
3.) Books that you haven’t finished?
Yes, I must admit that there have been times when I couldn’t finish a book.
Usually, this happens if the book doesn’t hook me early on. I’m left feeling bored and somewhat uninspired, and often cannot continue reading.
4.) Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone that you’re reading?
I probably wouldn’t mention if I were reading an Erotic book, mainly because I aim my own writing at young adults. It would be highly inappropriate for me to go into great detail when discussing such a book online, so if I do find myself reading Erotica, you probably won’t hear me mention it anytime soon.
5.) How many books do you own?
If we’re talking about paperback books, I believe I own around 70 at the moment.
I did own more, but sadly there was an incident at my home, which led to a large number of books needing to be thrown out due to excessive damage. 🙁
6.) Are you a fast or slow reader?
Again, this entirely depends on the book I’m reading. If it hooks me from the start, I’ll likely finish it quickly as I will NOT be able to put it down.
On the other hand, if the story starts off slow, I’m likely to take longer reading it.
7.) Do you like to buddy read?
I’ve only partnered up with two individuals in the past, in order to buddy read. While I did enjoy the experience, neither of the people I paired up with really seemed to enjoy the books we were reading, thus making it hard to have a healthy discussion about them.
Don’t get me wrong- I’m open to doing buddy reads in the future. I’m just not overly keen on them, given my previous experience.
8.) Do you read better in your head or out loud?
I definitely read better out loud.
Why? That’s simple- ACCENTS.
I love putting on accents for the characters, giving them a more solid personality (at least, in my head, it seems that way.)
9.) If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
Wizards First Rule, by Terry Goodkind.
Why? Because I absolutely ADORE Goodkind’s work.
Wizard’s First Rule is the first book of The Sword of Truth Series, which has been my all time favourite series since I first learned of its existence four years ago.
Take one humble and courageous young wood guide with a mysterious heritage, and one fiery spirited young woman with nothing to lose, and you have the beginnings of an Epic Fantasy to die for.
I will always recommend this series to others. Think The Wheel of Time Series, but for a slightly younger audience.
10.) Bonus confession:
As a child, I used to act like the characters from the books I read. Now that I look back, I realize that this behaviour was down to me not knowing myself very well. I had struggled with my identity since I was four and was unable to present in either a feminine or masculine way.
I was just me and so I acted in a non-gendered way (that’s the only way I have to describe it.) To this day, I still find myself acting out scenes in my head, or feeling as though I’ve been drawn too deeply into a character’s mind, with little hope of ever escaping.
Now, you know a little bit more about me and my reading habits. ^_^
